I tried the latest SVN  25129 , and compared it with a previous version
SVN 24928  (previous to the speedup patches that Reimar added lately).
It seems quite good. I do not hear the artifacts that I heard when I
tried the patch Reimar posted at the beginning of the thread.

kudo to R.Juliano and Reimar: I really like scaletempo, and it is useful
for  me.
