If it's interfacing with the program at all as a library then YES.
Whether or not you modified MPlayer is irrelevant. RTFGPL. MPlayer is
not here to facilitate proprietary assholes making money off
shareware/malware/whatever the popular thing to make for Windows is
these days. If you want to benefit from using MPlayer in your program,
then you play by the rules and release under GPL.
