Thanks for your feedback. Bugreport with a testcase demonstrating the problem
submitted to maemo bugzilla: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1460

Now we only need to wait until it gets fixed, which may never happen for 
Nokia 770 as it is an older device and has no official updates planned. N800
may have some hope anyway.

So no matter how bad my blanking prevention patch looks, using it is
still unavoidable for any maemo builds of mplayer. I don't insist on its
inclusion into official mplayer source tree though :)
