Here, let's just make modules better, as you wish.
The definition of 'better' should be a common sense quality goal, IMHO.
Add features, as long you don't break others,
following common quality and non-duplicate guidelines.
And finally, dropping all these discussion,
which tries to remove and drop a feature.
As long we are all 'just sure' that nobody needs it anymore.
I.e. the whole discussion ALSA vs OSS is rediculous,
because a distributor can always add a proper 'mplayer.conf' file to her installation.
Done ..
(And I would really be surprised, if this they would not use 'ao=alsa' ;-)),
yeah .. just kidding)
