uhm ... 30% ...

it would be interresting to know what exactly causes this speed difference

here libmpeg2 is 10% slower than ffmpeg12 with the matrixbench video and
-vo null as well as -vo xv
(-vo gl is around 1 fps so it would take hours to test and might be hard
to interpret the result due to overhead ...)
cpu:amd duron

could you try -vo null / xv ? and try with matrixbench_mpeg2.mpg or provide
the video you used?

also dont use windows :)
there might be alignment issues on windows which could cause significant
slowdown ...
