Yes, we require patches against SVN. The reason? Same as yours, lack
of manpower.
Lots of patches get ignored even though their are against SVN just
because of this lack of manpower.

Please resend your patch as attachment, rather than inline. Otherwise,
it's quite a pain to apply and test them.
