with gcc-3.4 and altivec enabled, rotten images go away. anyway the
problem with osd blocking all, when compiled with -O4 remains.
so, on linux PPC, actually i can compile, with -O4, altivec, and osd
workin, only with at least gcc version 4. i am using 4.0.3, but i can
assume that with gcc-4 works good.

(yes the second is a frame shifted, but you can understand what happens)
