You only need to recompile the bktr* modules (for FreeBSD at least) not
the entire kernel.  

And additionally, I'm working on getting that changed...  The last bktr
maintainer (roger) gave me his blessing, but he no longer has commit
privlidges. Hopefully one of the devs will accept a patch...
