Here's an updated patch. Two differences:

1. I had used CONF_TYPE_INT instead of CONF_TYPE_FLOAT. Oops.

2. Instead of describing the behavior of mblmin, I described the
behavior of lmin. Is that still reasonably accurate? I admit to not
understanding the relevant code, so my description is based on
observation again.
