I got the 2.1.10 version number by googling for "FT_GlyphSlot_Oblique",
on the first page there was a link to a Debian mailing list post from a
year ago mentioning differences from Debian's previous 2.1.7 to the
then-new 2.1.10. So it seems the symbol was not present in 2.1.7 in
Debian either. Debian didn't have versions between those, I assumed it
was not in versions below 2.1.10 because of the failure with 2.1.9 that
started this thread.
