On the BSDs two sound interfaces are used:
FreeBSD and DragonFly have OSS only, NetBSD and OpenBSD have Sun audio
natively and a small library to emulate OSS. Sun audio like the name
implies is not only used on NetBSD and OpenBSD though. One possible
problem is that the quality of the Sun devices can be very low, at least
on Sun.
