Perhaps I should have tried them first... and I would have if it weren't
past my bedtime or if I were at home. In any case, if you read my email
carefully you'll see I didn't really jump to any conclusions -- I merely
pointed out and explained an item of patch submission policy that didn't
appear to have been followed.

I've tested all the patches at once on a small variety of files --
everything seems fine so far.
