*That* would be a nice improvement. I once tried, myself, to write a
"seek to preceding keyframe and then decode without display until the
requested frame" patch, but never got anywhere close to anything really
workable.

Oh, I know you wrote the code in the patch, but I didn't think you wrote
the code in the part of MEncoder to which the patch would be applied...
and the person who is responsible for that part of the code is the
person who would be expected to say "yes" or "no" to committing your
patch. I was asking who, if anyone, that was.
I look forward to seeing the new versions of your patches.
