What's up with that patch?

I doubt anyone besides Mark and a few users can use that patch, so it
makes it hard to do any testing, but it would be great if someone
could have a look at it.
I had a look myself, and from my perspective, it looks quite alright.


Mark, do you plan to stick around and fix any issues that users may bring up?
