Testing it like that can also be confusing because if you say quickly
change the value from 0 to 1 second, the sync will immediately change by
1 second in the OPPOSITE direction and then it'll take about 20 seconds
for it to move to the final value. (This is the bug fixed by my "Fix
runtime adjustment of audio delay" patch which has not been applied
yet.)

You can't completely hide the sign from users unless there's another way
to set the value on the command line.
