Why not just send an email to that guy who invented SRT?
He should know how a SRT file should look like. At least this would pay
tribute to the right person.

If someone knows what a SRT file is and knows how to edit it and works on
a Unix machine he should know how to use dos2unix (or use a proper
editor), too, shouldn't he?
