This could be it, but I doubt it as it plays fine with 2-week(ist) cvs, 
with MPlayer-1.0-pre5, and it plays file when the codec.conf file is 
patched.

Also, "my" unpached MPlayer can't play video files that caused no 
problem in the past. That's why I don't think the problem lies there.
