Well, a reasonably quick scan of incoming/ does not find anything which
looks obviously like the files I have (there are two of them, and in one
the symptoms are actually much worse than described), and I really don't
have any idea of what to search on to find the discussion in the list
archives without getting fnords of false positives - so although that's
not noecessarily conclusive, if you want me to upload either of the
files, or fragments thereof (dd'ed 5MB each and confirmed to exhibit the
problems), just say so and I'll do it.
