apt-get install mplayer
will be occupied 1.2TB of disk space.... ;-)

no, jokes apart, i can see the need for precompiled packages primarily
for winzoz/osx, and the less for linux.
in those 2 packages above, i think it can be studied the possibility to
deploy a package with everything inside.

so become nearer the need for a detached gui package, i think.
it could be:
  mplayer/mencoder binary packages
  needed libs package
  gui package
in the end. or mplayer/mencoder/libs all together...

but mp sourcecode needs a little restyling, i think....
