There is a slightly newer version of vf_osd at:

I've received several very good suggestions on this list and I haven't
yet had time to incorporate them and submit a new patch.  I hope to have
time for that in the next few weeks.  I'm very keen on seeing it get
merged.

You might be talking about vf_bmovl2, which is also available at the
above URL.  vf_bmovl2 was written for my project, MeBox, but it's
deprecated in favor of vf_osd.  All future development effort will be
put into vf_osd.
