IMO, we should make whatever the Xvid people feel should be default,
be default. They probably want the defaults to match the VfW frontend
defaults. GomGom would probably be best to solicity for an opinion about
this. Historically though, Xvid <-> mplayer cooperation has no been very
good nor compatible.

Lavc options are parsed entirely within mplayer/mencoder, so it would
require no change to lavc, to implement it. Although it wouldn't make
much sense to do it in the case of lavc. Any -lavcopts options would
override any and all lavcopts options in config, which I believe was the
original purpose of having both flag and noflag.
