OK, but I was trying to avoid your glare!  Seems I failed even there...

However, as I said before, on my machine with either alsa or Jack audio 
output layer, using -vo null uses 45% CPU, versus about 10% if I do 
normal video output... Something obviously going a little wrong, but I 
haven't debugged at all (might be something funny going on with the 
usleep stuff for example?  RTC should be availble though...)  I will 
debug it at somepoint and let you know.
