Nico Sabbi posted a patch which atleast in theory is capable of doing what mine above does,
and much more, by rewriting the whole thing. However, I saw people in #mplayer complain about
problems with nico's patch, particulary grave A/V desynchs even when using -vf harddup, so
I don't know how ready it is.
If release is not imminent please wait for Nico's patch to mature and apply that. If release is imminent
and nico's improved mpeg muxer functions much worse than current, and current mpeg muxer is kept,
applying mpegmuxopts patch should be safe as it preserves default behaviour, and there was even
positive feedback on mplayer-users :-)
