AUCH! Those are probably the _most_ problematic keys. [ and ] live
in the letter row, so they are among the first keys to be replaced
by something exotic when a keyboard is localized. In my finnish
keyboard [ and ] are at alt-8 and alt-9. Or that's what is printed on
key caps - I actually have them on US position, because I use a customized
key map that is a compromise between finnish and US keyboards: it contains
the weird finnish vowels, but is still usable for programming.

That argument holds with seeking too, but seeking in MPlayer is not fantasy.
