Off the top of my head, I can think of 3 outstanding bugs with
the new version of libmpeg2.  I expect there are more.  Is anything
going to be done, or do there need to be a storm of bugreports first?

I can think of several options to prevent problems before release:  
  Fix known bugs 
  Revert libmpeg2
  Default to ffmpeg for mpeg1/2
