Just to clarify, I have been reporting the total number (ie vc + vo + sys)
(I was wondering how you were getting such low numbers :) )

For just the VO part, I get:

XV:      0.754 sec
X11:     1.72 sec
gl :     2.9  sec
gl2:     2.7 sec
gl_hack: 0.147 sec
DGA    : 0.977 sec
VESA   : 0.1-0.5 sec *

* when doing the -vo vesa, my system doesn't behave very well (X goes away
and I have to ctrl-alt-f7 to get it back), and timing information is not
printed.  So I timed the whole thing with -loop 10, and worked backwards.  
The VC module takes between 3.1 and 3.5 seconds depending on the -vo I
use, so that's why there is a wide range for VESA.
