Hello,

There are problems with mplayer codecs to play WMV2 and MP43 streams. The
audio gets out of sync and picture quality is worse then compared to Windows
even when native Windows codecs are used in mplayer.

WMV2 - Please look at the following stream
http://www.tv-radio.com/station/public_senat/public_senat-150k.asx.

There are 2 codecs available to decode WMV2 streams. They are wmv8 and
wmvdmo. wmv8 produce better picture quality but audio gets miserably out of
sync. wmvdmo picture is a lot worse then decoded using wmv8 and audio is out
of sync as well, however audio is
"more in sync" then with wmv8.

My understanding is that both wmv8 and wmvdmo are native Windows codecs, so
why there are decoding and syncing issues?

MP43 - Please look at any bloomberg stream
http://www.bloomberg.com/streams/video/LiveBTV200.asxx,
http://www.bloomberg.com/streams/video/LiveFR_nb.asxx or
http://www.bloomberg.com/streams/video/LiveDE_nb.asxx

There are bunch of codecs to decode MP43 (ffdivx, odivx, divx4, divx4vfw,
divxds and divx). All of them have audio out of sync problem.

The bottom line, mplayer is unusable for playing WMV2 and MP43 streams and
thus those streams cannot be viewed on Linux giving a small win to Windows
in a "platform of choice battle". Now, any idea how to fix that?

Regards,
Aleksey
