Okay, well, what about one of these two:
1) remove rootwin in favor of "desktop" or "wallpaper" option
   in the style of "ontop" feature
2) keep rootwin option as is, but add runtime toggle like "ontop".
   then rewrite this "wallpaper" feature to respond to that.

I vote for #2 to keep compatibility for x11 users.
So -rootwin with directx would be as "directx:wallpaper"
proposed above, and there would also be a way to toggle
that during playback like the "ontop" feature.
