Thanks! I remember the stupidity when I cut&pasted the suboption parser from 
vo_jpeg to vo_pnm to vo_md5sum, which was inspired by the vo_gl parser btw. 
So, once this gets committed, I'll see to it that jpeg/pnm's parsers are 
replaced by calls to your helper function!
