[MPlayer-dev-eng] Using mencoder for distributed incoding

Hi list,

we integrated mplayer with Xgrid this weekend to provide us with a 
blazing fast Xserve G5 encoding farm.
We first tried to use -ss and -endpos to delimit encoded parts on each 
node of the cluster.
Unfortunately, -ss was not precise enough on vob files and we had a 3 
s. overlap at split positions.
In order to work around the problem, we added two options to mencoder:

-fromclosestkeyframe and -untilclosestkeyframe

They convert the provided seek time to a number of fields and skip the 
frames until the correct number of fields is met and a key frame is 
reached.

I was wondering if the feature interested someone else.
