After messing around with netBSD's site (I am a l4m3 l1nux3r, no
relation to any *bsd....), I found their patchset. It is hidden in:
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/packages/pkgsrc/multimedia/mplayer-share/patches/
.

This patch seems to kill i18n:
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/packages/pkgsrc/multimedia/mplayer-share/patches/patch-ad

This patch seems to be a small bug/portability fix:
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/packages/pkgsrc/multimedia/mplayer-share/patches/patch-ab

And this one tries to enhance the configure script, someone should
check it more carefuly...:
