well there is no segfault unless you dont use broken arts right?
anyway a reason why kde peeps arent very responsive to arts bugreports
could be that from what i heard the main dev is sick and the rest of the
kde devs dont really like it either. afair kde might drop arts
completely with kde 4. you still could try the latest beta arts release
with kde 3.3beta2 maybe the bug is fixed there. 
if not why not submit a patch to arts instead ? 
on the other hand if the current patch doesnt break any current(which is
doesnt seem to). why not just commit?
