vanilla kernel-headers 2.6.7 + gcc 3.4.1 + cvs mplayer: no problem
vanilla kernel-headers 2.6.7 + gcc 3.4.1 + cvs mplayer + include
autoconf.h: no problem

so imho the problem is in mdk's kernel-headers, but the patch can be
safely applied as no problem with vanilla kernels, too
