And what would you suggest? NOT encoding an URL is obviously not an
option. Always encoding it will make people wonder why a stupid browser
can do it and mplayer cannot do it. So you're copying an URL from a
browser, paste it and *BAM* mplayer encodes it
again. Completely. Everything. Is that sane? Maybe it's _logical_, but
it just sucks. mplayer's usability sucks in many ways (e.g. video
filters are not changeable on playback, streams are not switchable...),
so why make it worse!? Why not chose an approach that works most of the
time with the option to explicitely fix it for the rare cases?
