It sure does, when you need to run mplayer without filters and there are
postprocessing filters defined in config. I use -vf scale for that
purpose, but it doesn't work with vidix - something like "scale,format"
has to be used. -vf null would do that easier.

Btw, how's going with fglrx vidix patch? Are there any problems with it?
If not, why don't you apply it?
