this seems like a valid assumption.  i've been trying for a year or
more to get this working -- the first time was a couple of weeks ago
with GCC 3.4 branch compiler and mplayer cvs.  netbsd's integrated
3.3.3 gets ICE's building some of the mpegvideo*ppc* files IIRC...

there's always the possibility for OS dependant behaviour but this
is one case i'd not expect it to be...
