Hi,
I will take a look of the svga part, as i am it maintainer
Strange I was going to make some modifications of the OSD
with same purpose. I can tell you that there is special function
that clears subtitles (rectangulars) when needed. I used it in xvmc, you can
take a look there. I was troubled to make changes there becouse of
inet connection problems
