It's simple, both Vorbis and Theora are based on libogg, but the
libtheora check didn't check for libogg but assumed it was already
added by the libvorbis check. But you can build MPlayer without
libvorbis or with libtremor (integer vorbis decoder independant from
libogg) instead of libvorbis, then the build would have failed at the
linking stage.
