[MPlayer-dev-eng] [PATCH] [BUG] Audio jittering with -ao alsa9 -ac hwac3

Hi,

While composing my post to mplayer-users about this problem, I realized
I could at least go back through CVS history and figure out at what
point mplayer started exhibiting the audio-stuttering-after-pause
problem I'm experiencing.

In doing this, I was able to narrow it down to a check-in on 2003-08-03
some time between 12pm-1:30pm. I did a cvs diff and saw some updates to
libao2/ao_alsa9.c. I applied this patch to CVS from today, reversing
these changes, and not only did it apply without problems, but it fixed
the jitter problem I am having.

Now I'm not actually suggesting this patch get merged because honestly I
don't have the first idea about this stuff. But I hope I've taken out
enough of the leg work from this problem to make it worth looking into
for one of the mplayer gurus -- probably Alex since his name is at the
top of ao_alsa9.c :)

I'm sure the code that this patch reverts does something useful, so
hopefully fixing my case just requires some small tweaks to the existing
code. :)

I am using alsa 0.9.7 but also had this problem with 0.9.2. My kernel
is 2.4.20-ck6 compiled with HZ=1000. Naturally I'd be more than happy
to provide more info or testing if that's needed.

Best,
Jason.
