Hi,

Committed a patch based on yours:
1, it uses hostinfo
2, it checks for hw.optional.altivec too (but also for hw.vectorunit)
I don't know much about Darwin releases, but imho it was changed between
some releases, so this may be for backward compatibility.
3, xmms dylib
4, sockets -ldnet
5, and the -Wl,bind ... patch

For the optimization disabling patch I will make an another round, for
the O4 vs O3, we'll discuss it more.

Ah, and about the fame: it's senseless as no external-fame support is
implemented.
