I am using alsa9 with hwac3 and it works fine for me. You may try to
use -cache, sometimes that can fix jitter problems. I can play HDTV
mpeg-ts streams as well as well as avi's with ac3 without problems
using nVidia nForce2 audio (Asus A7N8X deluxe) optical SPDIF output.
Sometimes I get a sharp click noise after unpausing, which is probably
caused by some partial ac3 packet that my reciever cannot decipher.
But after that single click, audio is fine. I used the 9/20 CVS as
well as the 10/12 CVS, both are fine. I tried 192kbit and 384kbit 2
channel AC3 files.
