How about this for a section in the docs video.html: ?

======

2.3.1.2.12.5 SiS graphics chips

SiS graphics chips based on the 300 (300, 540, 630), and 310
(315, 330, 650/651, 740) series are technically supported, however the
300 series support has not been tested. Also, there are known problems
on video with large ( >= 1024 ?) or "unusual" horizontal dimensions.

A variety of different video bridges are used with SiS chipsets. The
SiS VIDIX driver tries to detect the devices connected (VGA, LCD, TV)
and set up the hardware video overlay appropriately. Support for multiple
overlays is still in progress - for now, to enable the overlay on a
secondary output when the primary is being used as well (ie VGA on CRT1 &
S-VIDEO on CRT2) you can set the environment variable "VIDIX_CRT=2".
