I've not the slightest idea as I wrote in the other mail.
When I lower the optimisation level to a nekkid -O1 libavcodec
doesn't crash, but I have the video in a nice green tone with
horizontal purple stripes and a nice motion vector puzzle.

The crash might be an aliasing problem somewhere but the greenfield
really puzzles me considering that the AltiVec code itself might be
correct according to your report. The implementation is gcc is really
stupid, a bit like hacking source for a macro assembler and thus there's
not much that can go wrong. The only changes between 3.2 and (the soon
to be released) 3.3 were a more intelligent constant vector
implementation from Aldy; I think I'll double check all vector
initialisations....
