Just my 2cents, I agree partially with this.  IMHO (very H) the syntax should be the same everywhere.  Personally, I would get confused if I had to use different syntax for every option, and DO get confused on occassion...  I am sure there is a median that this can all meet at...

MY proposal: Make all of them the same as vop currently is, ie: -vop scale=640:480:-1:-1 etc.  Which would make vf ONLY take them in the correct order as well.  Too many '=' will confuse people too IMHO.
