Using Winxp:

> Try these things without patching:
> mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device G:
> mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device //./G:
> mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /dev/scd1
Can't open VMG info!

> 
> Try these with patch:
> mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device D:
gets the DVD keys (using Win2K API), then
Can't open VMG info!

> mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device //./D:
gets the DVD keys (using libc), then
Can't open VMG info!

Note: it spots a problem into the Makfile, since I did 'make' into 
the top directory after applying the patch and got "Nothing to be done
for `all'".
