because most codecs (actually imho all except teh mpeg ones which is rare)
in .avi and other frame-based containers are framed, so you cannot playback
(or use for any purpose) rte resulting dump unles syou know teh size of each
video packet. by dumping the raw data only you lose this info.

the proper solution would be a codec-based decision (skip packet size for
mpeg codecs only) or an commandline option.
