Wow, you're right.  That's really odd.  I'll try to work from there to
produce a version that outputs palletted 8-bit, I suppose.

I don't understand why that fixes the problem, though.  *shrug*
As long as it's fixed, I suppose that's all that matters.

Anyhow, if you have any more insight for me, let me know.
Otherwise, I'll start a new thread with a proper patch (docs patch
included) once it's up to cvs-worthy quality.
