filters do DR1 since the beginning.
at least if the filter implements get_image().
look at expand for example.
and others also do no-copy tricks, with pointers & strides, like crop.

you mean slice?
yes it's planned. it could work, but atm none of the filters implements
draw_slice() and the API has some possible problems with slices.
maybe i should finish that path before leaving the project...
(but after 0.90, as it may break lots of things)
