Check out the source for nvrec.sf.net. It has both v4l1 and v4l2, and 
seems to manage audio and video sync very well. The code is easy to 
read. I think it manages the audio by stretching it, and it doesn't 
sound bad IMHO. But you'd have to check the source for details.
