While I was at it, I tried mplayer -vo vesa:vidix on my console,
but I only get a green text on the top which says "mplayer" and the rest is
black.
When the playback finishes, I get a black screen and can't restore it 
until I
go to X and back; then reset.

I remember vesa:vidix used to work long, long ago (in version 0.60)
Does vesa:vidix work on the other Radeon cards?
Is there another fix?
